CRITICAL COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS
- Critical Thinking: This individual must be intellectually sharp and use critical thinking to make or influence decisions while demonstrating outstanding business judgement. He or she will be comfortable creating the new and the different.
- Results-Oriented: The new Plant Manager must be performance-driven and able to provide measurable results. The successful candidate will be resourceful, action-oriented, as well as a flexible and decisive manager who establishes clarity in the midst of distractions to produce results in a timely fashion. He or she will provide clear direction, establish achievable goals, and will actively direct staff to ensure their success.
- Communication: This individual should possess very strong communication, listening, and persuasion skills, in order to truly partner with the management team. He or she must be an adept writer as well as be comfortable, dynamic, and an effective presenter in front of both external and internal audiences including employees, senior management, customers and public forums. This is a highly collaborative management team. This individual should have a broad perspective on the impact of manufacturing operations from innovation, marketing, sales, finance, information technology and executive management. A willingness to engage in a broad range of topics and discussions across all constituents.
- Perspective: This individual will provide a worldly perspective of macro and industry influences to assist in guiding the company in new directions. He or she will provide perspective coming in from outside the organization to aid in the collective leadership team’s understanding and acceptance of trends, insights, changing business perspective, and management strategies. This keen perspective should be presented with patience and guidance rather than authoritative.
