Position Overview

The Vice President (VP) of Technology / Chief Architect will be responsible for translating company defined priorities into a coherent technology strategy and roadmap and leading the end-to-end technology required for a successful business led, technology enabled digital transformation. They will have responsibility to develop, integrate and maintain end-to-end systems architecture roadmaps and standards, ensuring the effective delivery of the Digital / Technology strategy in line with leading industry best practice and overall company standards.

The VP of Technology / Chief Architect will work closely with Executive Management and key stakeholders and serve as a leader within the organization, as an innovator and ambassador for digital products, being able to effectively communicate and bridge between product development teams and Executive Members to ensure a relevant and coherent project portfolio that comes together to deliver genuine top and bottom line results. They will be accountable for leading the technology selection, systems, integration, cloud and data architecture required and ensuring a positive ROI on technology investments.

The VP of Technology / Chief Architect will be responsible for the management of existing corporate infrastructure through internal and external teams, and the transition required to deliver the Digital vision. They will be responsible for future builds and iterations of our deployed products, upkeep and management of Information Security, the integrity of coding frameworks for multiple platforms and, ultimately, the convergence of the technologies into a fully integrated Digital offering.

The successful candidate must be up to date with top digital trends in the industry and how these can be leveraged and translated into business value. Agile, information security management, network, systems architecture design and delivery, big data, artificial intelligence / machine learning, and experience in building scalable products in multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Web) are critical competencies; as well as soft leadership skills such as building and managing diverse teams, the ability to communicate effectively across diverse stakeholders, teamwork, problem solving, and empowerment. The ideal candidate will be driven, never satisfied with the status-quo, hungry for results and ready to roll up their sleeves to achieve desired outcomes. In short, we’re looking for a ‘servant-leader’ whose measure of success will be equally measured through collaboration and the creation of high performing (internal and external) teams as well as the delivery of results aligned to the corporate strategy.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmaps and associated architectural standards to ensure the creation and evolution of IS solutions that will meet business needs and exploit emerging technology trends and developments.
  • Research, investigate and evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, best practice, and vendor solutions, to inform the development of roadmaps and support the improvement of the development lifecycle.
  • Implement, manage and improve the processes, systems and capabilities needed to manage the design, development, testing, deployment and support of IS solutions in the most effective and efficient way, build and retain internal intellectual property and talent, and respond flexibly to changing business demand, whilst creating the optimum balance between internal and external resource allocation and leveraging internal and external best practice.
  • Define and assess the IS solutions needed to address business demand and requirements, making best use of budgets and resources and acting as the escalation point for key risks, issues and decisions, to ensure solutions meet required quality standards, are sustainable and supportable, and aligned with all relevant architecture roadmaps, standards and controls.
  • Define the operational support framework required for the effective management and delivery of all Digital solutions, ensuring it is both fit-for-purpose today and scalable into the Digital future to prevent unintended system disruptions and effective business continuity.
  • Implement, communicate and monitor all relevant processes, procedures, controls and reporting requirements to ensure that technical solutions are being appropriately governed in line with business needs and risk appetite.
  • Set expectations and manage, monitor, coach and develop team members to ensure that they maximize their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience whilst demonstrating the behaviors needed to embed a collaborative, high performing, consumer-oriented and commercially aware working environment.
  • Engage with selected vendors, managing delivery from them where necessary, to ensure we are controlling costs, monitoring that they are following relevant standards and controls and meeting agreed service levels, fully leveraging their capabilities, knowledge and services, and realizing maximum value from working with them.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
