Plant Manager


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

During Design & Construction


  • Contribute to the proper facility design and equipment selection from the point of view of safety, environmental compliance, cost of operations, and ease of maintenance
  • Engage with engineering team to influence development of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams and facility layout
  • Oversee hiring program for key facility operations personnel to support prepare to operate activities
  • Manage the development and rollout of operations training programs
  • Collaborate with Maintenance & Reliability Manager to establish facility maintenance execution plan and partnerships for routine facility maintenance and turnarounds
  • Champion use of advanced instrumentation and operational/plant health monitoring applications
  • Oversee development of HSE plans for the facility
  • Collaborate with construction, maintenance, and operation teams to ensure facility is built with a consideration for ease of operations / maintenance and does not bring unnecessary difficulties in the future
  • Participate in regular site inspections to check the build and installation quality
  • Attend all commissioning and plant performance testing so as to fully understand asset operation
  • Participate in punch list and turnover phases site reviews
  • Review all equipment close-out documents such as warranties and service contracts and be immediately involved in start-up to ensure everything is running properly

Post Construction


  • Candidates will be champions and models of a safety-first environment by promoting a culture focused on safe, environmentally compliant, and reliable operations
  • Leads and manages the tactical aspects of the plant operation plans, including not only the technical aspects, but the personnel/people aspects for short- and long-term improvement and sustainability
  • Develop and implement annual business plans with KPIs (financial, safety, environmental, quality, personnel, etc.) in alignment with plant and corporate objectives
  • Directs full compliance of safety procedures and sets priorities for personnel safety, process safety, environmental compliance and community stewardship
  • Responsible for ensuring environmental compliance while meeting or exceeding federal, state, corporate and industry standards, and leading practices in Safety, Environmental, and Quality
  • Complies with the PSM plan and work to continually improve safety and environmental record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes
  • Oversees development and management of the Operations and Maintenance budgets, monitoring spending for variance issues and taking corrective actions to resolve variances
  • Oversees development and implementation of long-range plans to ensure long-term reliability, optimization, and profitability of the plant
  • Accountable for ensuring reliable and cost-effective operation of the facility
  • Champion initiatives in support of long-term sustainable profitability of the plant
  • Utilize sound human relations and communications skills to provide development of direct reports and motivation of staff resulting in a reliable and competent workforce
  • Monitor progress towards goals, ensuring actions are in place and sufficient when progress is not on track to achieve goals
  • Responsible for assuring all company policies, rules and guidelines are being followed and administered in a fair and consistent manner and providing direct assistance to Human Resources for all employee issues
  • Works in an effective and cross-functional manner
  • Create, implement, and manage work processes, and ensure that systems are in place to improve performance, help lower risks in the workplace, and drive operations and maintenance strategies to “best in class” performance
  • Set and maintain exceptional housekeeping standards
  • Maintain and improve the performance of plant personnel including making organizational changes to meet changing needs, hiring of new personnel, and administering a personnel performance improvement program that includes goal setting, performance evaluations, and counseling to achieve high standards of performance
