Maintenance & Reliability Manager
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
During Design & Construction
- Contribute to the proper facility design and equipment selection from the point of view of safety, environmental compliance, maintainability and cost of operations
- Engage with engineering team to determine design standards, sizes of equipment, and facility layout
- Establish facility maintenance execution plan and partnerships for routine facility maintenance and turnarounds
- Oversee hiring program for key facility maintenance personnel to support prepare to operate activities
- Champion use of advanced instrumentation and plant equipment health monitoring applications
- Collaborate with construction and operation teams to ensure facility is built with a consideration for ease of maintenance and does not bring unnecessary difficulties in the future
- Participate in regular site inspections to check the build and installation quality
- Attend all commissioning and plant performance testing so as to fully understand asset operation
- Participate in punch list and turnover phases site reviews
- Review all equipment close-out documents such as warranties and service contracts and be immediately involved in start-up to ensure everything is running properly
- Ensure attendance of maintenance staff at mechanical system training sessions offered by equipment installers and suppliers
Post Construction
- Candidates will be champions and models of a safety-first environment by positively driving the maintenance team safety culture through training, addressing safety issues, and building strong employee safety attitudes
- Responsible for the overall utilization of facility resources to achieve strategic maintenance and reliability objectives. This includes compliance with maintenance and reliability programs, preparation and tracking of maintenance budget, and management of all routine maintenance activities
- Responsible for the health, safety and environmental performance of all Nacero maintenance personnel and contractors, including compliance to all federal/State laws and Nacero Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
- Leads the maintenance team responsible for all plant physical assets including building, grounds, plant machinery and equipment
- Works with HSE and Operations teams to create, implement, and maintain an OSHA compliant Process Safety Management (PSM) framework and workplace
- Establishes, owns and tracks all key performance indicators (KPIs) relative to reliability and maintenance strategy. Uses KPI measures to ensure compliance with engineering and reliability standards and continually improves overall reliability, quality and cost
- Execute long-term reliability centered maintenance (RCM) program and capital strategy to meet business plan goals
- Execute the Asset Integrity Management program to maintain and inspect the facility assets including static and rotating equipment/machinery, electrical equipment, instrument and control equipment in a fit-for-service condition while extending its remaining life in the most reliable, safe, and cost-effective manner
- Implement the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for management and documentation of facility maintenance work and asset history
- Develop and execute annual engineering and maintenance plans (safety, environmental, quality, personnel, financial, etc.) and budgets in alignment with business plan objectives
- Works with the group and Operations Teams to develop and execute engineered solutions to resolve facility issues
- Develops teams through the establishment of goals and provides coaching and mentoring through informal as well as the formal performance review process to effectively communicate and manage employee performance
- Creates an environment of self-development and self-direction for the workforce through coaching and training on equipment knowledge, skills and techniques to provide organizational strength and individual growth within the organization
- Responsible for assuring all company policies, rules and guidelines are being followed and administered in a fair and consistent manner, providing direct assistance to Human Resources for all employee issues
- Maintain high facility housekeeping standards
- Works in an effective and cross-functional manner
- Set up and implement safety best practices such as field safety audits, shop safety audits, housekeeping audits, daily start of shift safety talks, weekly safety meetings, and incident reporting, tracking and investigations
- Serves as the maintenance program leader to maintain and ensure safe and reliable operation of plant related equipment
- Create, implement and manage work processes, and ensure that systems are in place to improve performance, help lower risks in the workplace, and drive maintenance strategies to “best in class” performance
- Manages plant maintenance activities including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, execution, monitoring, forecasting, and cost control
- Responsible for managing routine maintenance planning and scheduling activities in accordance with plant safety policies and procedures, work control process, engineering standards and budget
- Implement and update routine maintenance policies, procedures and training
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement through the use of established performance metrics (PM compliance, schedule compliance, productivity, planning accuracy, break in work orders, backlog, etc.)
- Optimize the PM program to minimize repair cost and improve MTBF
- Interface across the entire organization as it relates to maintenance and technical assessments of equipment
- Hold Maintenance Department accountable to performance expectations and assist maintenance superintendents and supervisors when needed
- Regularly communicate with other Nacero facilities and Subject Matter Experts to identify “Best Practices,” and develop plan for implementation locally
- Communicate both written and verbally with equipment manufacturers and vendors
- Maintain and improve the performance of department personnel, including organizational changes to meet changing needs, hiring of new personnel, and administering a personnel performance improvement program that includes goal setting, performance evaluations, and counseling to achieve high standards of performance
