POSITION OVERVIEW
The Vice President, Automation & Engineering is responsible for partnering with the Senior Leadership team to develop and execute long-term growth and continuous improvement strategies with a focus on automation opportunities. They will support Group companies on various improvement initiatives, solving complex operational problems, identifying automation opportunities, and assisting in capital projects through the approved processes.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for helping Group companies identify and implement automation opportunities.
- Liaison with company Innovation/Engineering Leaders and Corporate Innovation organization to help implement best in class automation programs and tools to the Group companies.
- Assist senior leadership in the planning, development, coordination, support, and execution of high impact (immediate and long term) improvement plans for effective and sustainable cost saving initiatives.
- Act as a change agent leader in instilling a Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement culture.
- Coach and mentor employees on the practical application of automation initiatives.
- Review data to identify impactful operational opportunities and drive process improvements including time studies, workflow, standard operating procedures, and proposing equipment upgrades.
- Collaborate with various teams to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in short periods of time, and simultaneously manage multiple projects while effectively influencing internal business partners.
- Support capital projects as needed – design, quotes, and help manage AFE through completion.
- Participate and support quality projects and initiatives to ensure that the company achieves its goals.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years’ related work experience in manufacturing automation.
- 5+ years’ experience leading company automation initiatives.
- Strong project management leadership; can set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Examples of hands-on implementation of automation in manufacturing environments.
- Tenacity for identifying opportunities for improvements and developing solutions.
- Management and team-building experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

They will provide perspective coming in from outside the organization to aid in the collective leadership team’s understanding and acceptance of trends, insights, changing business perspective and management strategies. This keen perspective should be presented with patience and guidance rather than brute authority.
