POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Manager will be responsible for identifying and leading both short and long-term initiatives to deliver profitable growth and achieve financial targets. This individual will be responsible for defining strategic goals for the business and commercial organization including identifying and prioritizing growth initiatives. This individual will develop and optimize go-to-market strategy and sales channels. This person will be responsible for spearheading efforts to maintain insights into the evolving market conditions and developing and delivering on short-term and long-term strategic plans to capitalize on market opportunities.
The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded executive with deep organizational design and development experience as well as heavy manufacturing experience. The General Manager will provide leadership in establishing optimal direct-to-consumer sales channels, preferably bringing some type of M&A integration experience. Wherein the alignment of its infrastructure and business processes ensures world class performance and rapid growth. This individual will possess the propensity to lead and will be result-oriented and strategic while still being authentic. This person must be motivational and collaborative while being receptive to feedback and agile regarding mitigating risk. The General Manager will have a voice in shaping the growth and the development of the company.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, recommends, and implements strategic sales strategies that maximize market share growth and profitability in accordance with business goals, industry trends, and relevant economic factors.
- Develop the strategic roadmap for company growth as well as determines staffing and resource requirements.
- Identifies and assimilates strategic acquisition targets.
- Identifies and reviews corrective actions to ensure the achievement of sales and margin objectives as needed.
- Sets and achieves business growth and strategic goals related to end-to-end responsibility for bookings, revenue and profitability.
- Manages all sales and sales channel activity including outside sales, inside sales, aftermarket, customer service and order management team.
- Develops and lead a strong, effective and respected E-Commerce strategy that is expert, strategic, effective, and vital to the organization’s success.
- Fosters cross-functional alignment between Sales, Operations, Product Management, Marketing, and Engineering in order to develop an integrated assessment of customer needs, market opportunities, technical feasibility, product cost targets, pricing strategy, competitive intelligence, and execution risk.
- Reviews and analyzes sales performances against new product business cases, sales programs, and quotes to determine effectiveness.
- Directs market channel development activities and coordinates sales distribution by overseeing the establishment of sales territories, quotas, and goals by the Sales leaders. Directs market assessments for emerging and underutilized markets.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
- Monitors competitor products, sales, and marketing activities to inform strategies.
- Executive leader across the business, fostering a continuous learning environment, and ensuring best practices, technical tools, and synergies are leveraged.
- Ensures effective representation at trade association meetings.
- Key driver of strategic initiatives.
- Strong ideation skills and experience performing successful product launches as well as extending the life of brands.
- Travel time is estimated to be less than 50% of the time.

This individual will provide a worldly perspective of macro and industry influences to assist in guiding the company in new directions. He/she will provide perspective coming in from outside the organization to aid in the collective leadership team’s understanding and acceptance of trends, insights, changing business perspective and management strategies. This keen perspective should be presented with patience and guidance rather than authoritative.

This individual must be intellectually sharp and clearly capable of thinking on his/her feet while demonstrating outstanding business judgment. The General Manager will possess the analytical skills to improve overall productivity and elevate the company’s sales and E-Commerce efforts as a point of differentiation in the marketplace. This person must not only embrace change, but be entrepreneurial in nature, creating and altering this road map along the way.
Leadership Acumen and Team Orientation
The General Manager will be charged with elevating the overall revenue, profitability, and talent of the business through various efforts. Through the development of processes and training, this individual will work to foster a culture of accountability and results. An exceptional leader, who builds, inspires, and coaches project teams with a passion for the business, while forging close working relationships with other senior leaders throughout the organization.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- An undergraduate degree is required, Master's Degree preferred
- 10+ years of broad and diversified sales experience in organizations recognized for “best practices”, particularly in marketing and E-Commerce
- 5+ years experience leading people
- 5+ years experience as a strategic business leader with responsibility for developing product and/or market strategies in a related industry
- Experience selling in the Consumer Products and/or Industrial Products markets
- An innovative spirit seen as bright and articulate, flexible, and detail orientated
- A track record of success functioning as a key member of a global senior management team, contributing the strategic thinking and leadership skills necessary to operate at the highest levels of an organization
- Effectiveness and comfort working and communicating with employees at all levels in geographically-dispersed business operation; possesses an interest in and willingness to be accessible across the organization
- A positive approach to solving complex organizational issues, providing actionable recommendations and successfully inspiring and motivating teammates to action

- Strong business acumen and knowledge in the financial drivers of the organization, understanding how future policies and practices affect the business.
- Demonstrated track record for growing sales and expanding margins

- M&A execution and integration experience preferred
