POSITION OVERVIEW
The Vice President of Sales is responsible for growing the market share of the organization through all aspects of the sales process including but not limited to the sourcing of transactions, proposal creation, leading business term negotiations, and documentation of pertinent sales activities and progress. The Vice President will be an accomplished salesperson with proven large account capturing capabilities and existing relationships in the specialty grain industry. This person will need to be a self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced environment. The challenges of this role will require them to possess outstanding self-discipline, strategic thought leadership and organizational skills, an inter-departmental teamwork orientation, and strong collaborative communication skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leverage existing and develop new relationships with target companies for sales opportunities
- Lead a dedicated sales team and the executive leadership team in all Sales efforts
- Represent the company through weekly personal meetings, periodic speaking engagements, local business forums, regional/national trade shows, and all other means necessary to support the brand and quality image of the company
- Build strong relationships with new customers
- Expert level customer service for existing customers
- Adherence to all approved sales process routines, directives, and ongoing prospecting engagement tactics. This includes the adoption and use of sales tools information management, forecasting, data reporting, reliable input(s), and participation in all team and company-wide meetings
- This position will carry a target quota that will be established at the beginning of each sales calendar year
- Deliver successful sales presentations necessary to win the business
- Lead contract negotiations, coordinating “behind the scenes” as required
- Ensure seamless implementation by coordinating all facets of the customer experience
- Ability to work virtually from a home office, while traveling to employer offices, client visits, or attending trade shows. Travel is estimated to be up to 50%.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in the Food Grain industry, and the buyers of healthy grains
- 10+ years of demonstrated success in sales positions with a track record of meeting quota
- 3+ years of leadership responsibility
- Sales experience in the commodities business and understanding of specialty grain markets
- Understand analytics and reporting
- Superior communication skills, both written and oral
- Exceptional relationship building, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to ensure follow up
- Ability to maintain professionalism in all interactions and communications
- Skills should include organizational development, personnel management, and planning
- Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
- Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment such as agriculture, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
- A creative and innovative, solutions-oriented individual with demonstrated success leveraging technical insight and proactive process improvement to deliver strong, strategic leadership
