POSITION OVERVIEW
The Vice President & General Manager (VPGM) will be based anywhere in the country and will report to the CEO. The successful candidate will come with a 360 view of the business, interacting with clients, and possessing the ability to assess, understand and execute complex projects. The VPGM will be chartered to drive the growth of the business, aiding in the elevation of DSI to be recognized as a top tier firm. The goal of the organization is to consistently execute on 300M MW of work annually in the next 3 years. This seasoned, well regarded, executive will bring outstanding top-level general management competencies to the table – excellence and a high comfort level in leading teams, business development, marketing, project execution, contractual, financial, and organizational management expertise.
The new VPGM must have a proven track record in architecture, engineering, design, construction management, and program management across various segments of the industry. This person will be a high energy, driven professional who thrives in a challenging, entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and dynamic environment, acting as an authoritative figure while not losing sight of the details. This individual will have a reputation for working with discretion, integrity, ethical decision making, while not being afraid to be “hands-on” with a high degree of responsiveness, strong attention to detail, and common sense.
The successful candidate will be highly entrepreneurial, thrive on collaboration, and possess a holistic and deep understanding of the elements to drive a profitable operation. The VPGM will lead, nurture, and grow teams within the solar division and for the organization. A key priority will be to continue the development of each individual staff member while enhancing the overall capability and capacity of the team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field required, relevant advanced degree or certification preferred
- 15+ years of successful professional experience in the A/E/C industry
- Strong knowledge of GC and EPC space
- Experience leading large projects and programs
- Entrepreneurial leader with ability to thrive in highly dynamic, fast-paced environment
- An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards
- A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
- A well-organized and self-directed individual who encourages teamwork and collaboration

- Execution in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, collaboration, and industry engagement
- Proven experience in safety leadership
- Due to the nature of this work, US citizenship is required

The VPGM must possess the analytical skills to drive revenue, improve overall productivity and elevate the company’s processes as points of differentiation in the marketplace. He/she must build agreement and alignment toward a business plan that expands markets served and achieves strong revenue growth. Also, manage risk by determining which projects are go or no-go through strong analytical thinking.
Business Acumen
The new VPGM must possess a strong sense of business acumen to successfully guide the organization through a maturing market while still increasing market share. The VPGM will understand margins and cost and time considerations at a high level. He or she must be a thought leader in national engineering and design execution, able to achieve faster outcomes, more efficiently, and less expensively without ever compromising quality or safety.
Results-Oriented
The new VPGM must be performance-driven and able to provide measurable results. The successful candidate will be resourceful, action-oriented, and possess a proactive sense of urgency and the ability to overcome obstacles to produce results in a timely fashion. He/she will be comfortable working in a matrix organization and leading project teams to achieve results.

This individual should possess exceptional communication, listening, and persuasion skills, truly partnering with the management team. He/she should be comfortable, articulate, and dynamic in front of both external and internal audiences including employees, senior management, and external partners. He/she will be direct, candid and possess strong conflict resolution skills.
