They have earned their position as a world leader in the production of casings for several industries through their dedication to technological innovation, deep understanding of their customers' products and supply chain requirements, and constant product innovation. Although their casings make up a small percentage of their customers' total costs, the high quality of their products and the company's reliable delivery performance are critical to their customers' operating efficiency and product quality.
With manufacturing facilities spread across the globe, our client has developed a strategy to enhance profitability through several avenues of growth. These include improving product mix and optimization, streamlining operations by addressing bottlenecks and enhancing quality, introducing new product lines, expanding resources in high-growth markets through capital investments, and pursuing mergers and acquisitions.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will hold a critical leadership role in the global business of the company. This individual will be a visionary and strategic leader that will envision, build, deploy, and maintain the company’s information technology (IT) capabilities and play an integral part in the future direction and performance of the business. This represents a strategic opportunity for a values-based, dynamic, creative, hands-on IT leader who has overseen growth in a successful business.
The ideal CIO will possess a wide range of business transformational experience and interest in evolving strategic IT vision for the company. The successful candidate will also provide leadership for implementing and supporting strategic IT initiatives that help support and sustain business growth through exceptional operating performance, cost effectiveness, fact-based data to drive business decision-making, and efficient business processes across the organization’s global locations.
They will be widely recognized as a committed and passionate business leader throughout the organization. This individual will have experience in developing a high performing, results-oriented IT teams. They will also be able to manage and execute multiple concurrent strategic IT projects, present information clearly and effectively, and establish effective, collaborative relationships with business colleagues throughout the organization.
The Chief Information Officer will also possess personal and professional integrity, strong moral character, strength in their convictions, exceptional communication and presentation skills, and a strong professional presence.
Leadership
The Chief Information Officer will have 25-35 staff to develop, direct and maintain the company’s Application Environment, including SAP, Enterprise Architecture, BI Architecture, Infrastructure and Security. The team also manages a number of critical 3rd-party relationships for outsourced IT services, including certain SAP technology infrastructure support, offshore SAP development, database administration, and service desk.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide vision, leadership, and business alignment that leads to the development and implementation of IT strategy that supports all areas of the organization.
- Collaborate with executive and senior management teams to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective IT solutions across the global organization.
- Work with the organization’s business leaders to establish appropriate, standardized, efficient business processes and procedures that include validation and integrity of business data across the business.
- Establish a roadmap for effective business intelligence, analytics, and decision support across the business.
- Assess the fit of IT solutions and identify gaps early for subsequent evaluation in the pursuit/solution development process.
- Lead effort to identify optimal business systems and underlying IT infrastructure that will support the organization going forward.
- Develop and manage application portfolios across the organization, globally.
- Implement an IT governance structure, to include business partners, to ensure predictable and reliable implementation and support plans are in place to execute chosen IT initiatives and effectively support implemented solutions.
- Ensure effective project management across strategic initiatives that deliver expected results as scoped, on time, and within budget.
- Develop a strategy around building user knowledge that includes effective and repeatable end-user training.
- Ensure development of policies, procedures, and standards for computer-based business systems, including but not limited to business applications, IT infrastructure, information systems security, and disaster recovery.
- Infuse a culture where data and analytics are foundational components to most business discussions and decision-making across the business, including sound ROI analysis.
- Manage risk around the organization's business IT systems and underlying IT infrastructure.
- Design and maintain an effective cyber-security program that protects the company’s assets in a cost-justified manner; ensure compliance.
- Demonstrate ability to assimilate information quickly and concisely, make decisions, and act appropriately in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Manage and govern IT operational and capital expenditures.
- Manage an enterprise-wide IT team across all company locations; set clear objectives for the IT team and manage all resources accordingly.
- Manage 3rd-party relationships and service providers engaged in the delivery of IT solutions and services across the company.
- Thoroughly understand the company’s go-to-market strategy, business models, sources of competitive advantage, and ultimately how the business makes money by acquiring and retaining profitable customers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of successful information technology leadership experience in a large, multi-location, global, and complex manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in architecting business solutions using a global SAP footprint – a deep understanding of SAP system architecture and master data management design in a multi-plant manufacturing environment is a must.
- Proven ability to challenge, motivate and partner with the executive leadership team to foster innovation and lead change in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
