
Vice President of Development
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
- Provide strategic direction for the CAC’s development activities, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, trustees, and other volunteer leadership, and providing staff support to their development work.
- As a member of the executive management team, provide leadership in the development arena for CAC’s staff; work with other senior managers to create a consistent organizational message, develop annual fund-raising priorities, identify and pursue funding opportunities, and help achieve the goals of the CAC.
- Develop comprehensive annual, capital, programs, endowment and other long-term plans for CAC’s development activities.
- Work with the Director of Corporate and Institutional Relations to build grants and sponsorship programs to solicit and manage funds from corporate, foundation and government sources.
- Work with the Development Operations and Research Specialist to develop the research program and prospect management system to support major gift activities, by developing KPIs and identifying and implementing new strategies for online fundraising.
- Manage special and major gift solicitation activities of staff and volunteers; as appropriate, serve as primary or secondary solicitor for major gifts and funding for special projects.
- Serve as liaison to CAC support groups, including the Auxiliary Board and Burnham Society.
- Manage the Development Committee along with the support of the Director of Institutional Relations and the Development Coordinator.
- Manage the Development staff, redefining roles as appropriate; oversee and, as needed, develop systems for keeping records, tracking donors, and managing correspondence; develop and manage the department’s budget; act as a mentor to and provide for the professional development of staff members; participate actively in carrying out the work of the department.
- Champion organization-wide and departmental initiatives focused on becoming a more equitable and inclusive institution.
